Default How to set up a LAN connection using Bsnl UTSTARCOM-WA3002G4

Techies out here I need your help. I am using this BSNL broadband connection which has a modem/router. The name of the model is UTSTARCOM-WA3002G4. It has 4 ethernet ports and 1 Wi-Fi Access point. This means I can connect 4 computers to the same modem through ethernet and the other one through Wi-Fi. But my question is can this router be used to set up a LAN connection connecting all the 5 computers? If so how?

I don't know about UTStarcom but, you can definately do it with Netgears and DLinks. It should be the same way for this as well. Check if you have something called "LAN Settings" or something similar in the Config Interface.

AFAIK, it's pretty straight forward. If you can DHCP setup in the LAN and the connected computers are getting IPs from the Router/Modem. All computers should be able to see each other.

Also, run the Windows Networking Wizard if you haven't already.

Best way to check if all computers can talk to each other is to ping their ip addresses from others machines and see if you get response.

Hope this helps.

I have already tried the procedure u said above TGF. The router automatically assigns IP address to all machines through DHCP. But the problem is I am able to ping the router from each machine. But I am not able to ping the other computer from one computer. This is my problem. Help needed on this.

you have made computers discoverable in network settings?
There is an option of home, private and public in vista to make the pc discoverable from outside.

I dont know whether the problem got solved or not, if not you can try the following..
provide the ip address to the computers manually dont set it automatically
like
pc ip 192.168.1.5 etc.. to your pc's
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1(ur utstar router)
with this you should be able to ping among your PC's router will act transparently
