Yes, u heard it true. Airtel has proactively activated VAS for many prepaid subscribers.
Fro last saturday I am getting thought for the day msg & rs. 3/- is deducted after every msg. when i call 121 they reverse the charges & confirms deactivation of VAS, but next day again the same story. Fortunatley after several calls, I VAS is stopped. Can some one please tell that we do not want them to be so pro-active.

Several Airtel prepaid mobile customers on Thursday gathered at its Nagpur(Maharashtra) customer care centre near the Ravi Nagar Square on the Amravati Road to complain about their account balance being eaten away Rs 3 at a time for value added services they had not even activated! Temperatures ran high from time to time as customer after customer walked in with the same complaint throughout the day.
One Airtel customer Hansraj Jagdev, a warrant officer of the Air Force posted in Nagpur, said, “I am being bugged by these messages for the past 10 days. Initially, there arrived an SMS in my inbox, which carried a ‘thought for the day’.” “I did not think much of it, until the next day I received another message informing me that I had started this value added service, and Rs 3 had been deduced from my account balance for that SMS,” he added. He added, “I rode my bicycle 10 kilometres just so that I could register a complaint. Then, when I arrived here, nobody has a single clue as to what is going on! As if that was not enough, even as I was sitting here, I got two more such text messages, and lost Rs 6 for nothing!” Satish Zanjote, who works in a financial organisation, had a similar tale to share. “The other day, I and several of my colleagues found that our balance was going down by Rs 3 each for some services we had not even activated! We immediately lodged a complaint, and within a few hours, were reimbursed the money,” he explained. On the other hand, representatives of the mobile connection provider, present at the customer care centre, said that they had no idea what was happening, and also that despite this, they were trying their best to help those inconvenienced by this problem, which continued late into Thursday evening.
