Datacom managed bsnl for tower sharing agreement
State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) Thursday said it has entered into passive infrastructure sharing agreement with Datacom Solutions Pvt Ltd.
Jointly owned by Mahendra Nahata, managing director of Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd., and the Dhoot family, founders of consumer-goods maker Videocon Industries Ltd, the company has not launched telecom services as yet.
The agreement will give Datacom access to more than 42,000 BSNL towers across the country (except Delhi and Mumbai), BSNL said in a statement.
“A separate infrastructure wing under New Business group is marketing the passive infrastructure by BSNL will greatly help the existing and new operators in faster roll out of their network across the country and will facilitate in increasing the tele-density particularly in rural areas,” BSNL said.
The public sector undertaking has also offered bandwidth and connectivity to service providers for rolling out their network as well as for the purpose of interconnections.
