Default Airtel launches per-second billing

NEW DELHI, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Airtel, India's top mobile operator, said on Friday it had launched a per-second billing plan, a reaction to increasing price competition in the world's fastest-growing mobile market.

Customers will be charged 1 paise per second for all local and national long-distance calls within Bharti's network and 1.20 paise per second for calls to other network, it said. A paise is one-hundreth of a rupee (2 U.S. cents).

Bharti Airtel is facing tough competition from smaller rivals, including Tata Teleservices which has grabbed market share with its per-second billing system.

If we have to recharge for 69 , 1 yr validity & 1.2p / onnet calls
then i think Airtel has launched this only bcause Trai had made per second plan mandatory

TRAI hasn't done anything. Its because of competition. Everyone want to share the growth that Tata Docomo is enjoying.

Docomo 10m user add in 10 states.
Airtel 8m user add in 22 states.

Cool Re: Airtel launches per-second billing

In Delhi,
Rs. 94 recharge needed.

Still
I think Aircel is better,
On Rs. 1 recharge.
they are giving 1p/1s local, STD 10000 sec (166 min) @ 1p/1s, after that 2p/1s.

Airtel is just looting the customers, it never comes up with new schemes on its own.

Come MNP, i will switch definately...

A day will come soon when we can demand the tariff we need to the operators. Am waiting for that day. This offer from airtel is eyewash because indirectly they are making us pay 60ps for all A2A local calls and 72ps for all A2O local calls besides that we need to recharge with a amount of Rs.69 which has a tariff validity of one yr. Still docomo or aircel is the best I feel.

Airtel was still in the dream that they would be a leading operator forever... For any cause they are not willing to reduce the cost.

Default Airtel fails to copy Tata Docomo, gives a half baked 1p/sec plan

Airtel went the Tata Docomo way and launched the per sec pulse....but before the airtel subscribers rejoice i wanna point out tht even this per sec pulse from Airtel (which is clearly copied from Tata docomo) has not been 'copied' in the right manner...to be clear Airtel is actually charging its users to get this per sec pulse plan...and the rates too differ from circle to circle..i think in the more lucrative circles it 90 rs in the others its 66rs....also this 1p/sec applies only for airtel to airtel users..and for calling to other numbers is 1.2p/sec!...but the real bummer is that this is only applicable for Airtel prepaid users....i think if airtel intended to copy Tata docomo they shuldve atleast copied them in the right manner..instead they opted for this half baked version of the original Tata Docomo plan!.

Airtel Freedom Plan

110 mn people across India use Airtel, making it the largest network in the country.
Airtel now introduces the Freedom Pack - Call any Airtel number anywhere in the country, local or STD at just 1p/ Sec and enjoy the advantage of being on Airtel
Pay per second plan available for all existing & New customers. Tariff details -
» All A2A local and STD calls at – 1p / sec
» All Airtel to other calls at – 1.2p / sec
» ILD / SMS / Roaming charges will continue at current tariffs and 60 sec pulse
» 1 year tariff validity

Buggers didn't mention the recharged amount required.
& again the highest amt recharge required for Delhi.

Even this tariff validity of one year will be mostly an eye wash coz if they are to survive nxt year when MNP comes in they should extend it without any further recharges. Good to see the oldies improving. Anyway my doubt now is if somebody makes an A2O call for 29 secs how much will he be charged? 34.8 ps? Hows that possible?

If that's the case it is once again a hit for the customer coz if they start rounding off the amount per call lik this it will cost more as a whole to the customer coz of the rounding off to the nearest decimal point.
