MTS India the Mobile services brand of Sistema Shyam Tele Services Limited (SSTL) today announced that it has achieved the 3 million subscriber base mark at an average monthly growth rate of 15% since the launch of its CDMA mobile services in March 2009 in India.

MTS India has over 1.2 million subscribers in Rajasthan, over 700,000 in Kolkata and West Bengal, close to 500,000 in Tamil Nadu and over 150,000 in Karnataka & Delhi/NCR. Rajasthan, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are seen as the fast growing markets for the operator.

On the occasion, Vsevolod Rozanov, President and Chief Executive Officer of SSTL said, “ Industry regulator has adjudged our network as one of the best in quality in the industry. I am happy that more and more subscribers in our telecom circles are endorsing our services. I am extremely happy that MTS services and products have found acceptability among voice and data subscribers equally. Our subscribers will be able to utilize our expanding network anywhere in India, especially in all the main urban centres.”

In a short span of time, MTS has secured over 2.3 million subscribers in the 11 telecom circles of Kolkata, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu,Chennai, Kerala, Bihar- Jharkhand, Karnataka, Delhi and Mumbai and Maharashtra MTS has more than 100 million subscribers all over the world

Not very surprising as it was providing good service + good plans.
But it would have attracted far more users if it was in GSM

if it was on GSM, cant offer such cheap call rate with 1800Mhz airwaves !

Still the service was good.
But yesterday my mothers mts number was locked (no outgoing or incoming calls).
If i call anyone it says UR ACC IS LOCKED . Contact call Centre.
Even cc doesnt have any idea why the acc has been locked ! . They had said me to wait till today afternoon

Today every operator is going for GSM, then why MTS is expanding on CDMA?

Can anyone let me know if MTS sim work on reliance cdma?

They find CDMA spectrum to be more efficient than GSM. That's what they told in a press conference. But I feel if they are supported by gud handsets from nokia, sony ericsson and samsung they can rock with the kind of tariffs they are offering currently

I guess MTS is the only new network which has gained positive reviews right from day one since they started operations in india.

i badly want a MTS Connectionn but i feel dat spending 1000 is not gud and handsets are even not gud...
i will take MTS On 2 chance...
Good Handset
Or 2nd Hand Open Market Handset
