I find the 'balance update feature' after every call or sms we send. Can it be disabled somehow?

Long ago i discussed with cc, which they told it was not possible....

May be ... you can register a complaint. Don't talk with cc just simply tell him to register a complaint.

Even I feel disgusted abt it! At times it is so annoying while sending bulk msgs in airtel for every msg it gives out a ringtone

ringtone?! You mean a Beep sound?
@ Gabu cc said that it was not possible to deactivate it.

email it to cc directly at 121@airtel.in .... tell them to forward it directly to level 2 tech dept.
Alternatively you can also email nodal officer.

U can give it a try . Send mail as gabu said & also register a complaint via nodal officer

Today conformed with cc. He said it was not possible to do so...

Yes since I use message booster at times I wil send bulk msgs. For every time a msg is sent it gives the message ringtone which I hav set. Let me give it a try
