Mobile Telecom Companies have Replied to TRAI with respect to its Proposal to Introduce 11-Digit Mobile Numbers in India.

Currently Mobile Numbers Start from 9 , 8 and also 7 had been alloted to Mobile Operators

Most of the Mobile Operators r saying that numbers starting from 2 , 3, 4, 5 & 6 were Alloted for fixed line , and as everyone knows that fixed lines r declining but Mobiles r increasing at a very fast rate..

Each Number Series is beleived to contain almost a Billion Numbers.

BUT According to Rcom and Tata we CANNOT AVOID 11 digit mobile numbers .

While if they start alloting other number series for mobile numbers it could lead to great confusion ..

I also don't think their is any need.
Make 10 digit dialing compulsory even from landline phone.
start using the 2,3,4,5,6 series other than std codes. You'll have more than enough numbers.

all those series cannot b given . its more of a comparison
its hard for series to come frm ther as 7 series is already alloted !

even if they completely use 7 , 8 & 9 it will work for many more years .
trai is looking in long term
