So this means even 2G subscribers are getting 3G speeds when downloading through mobile. For 274 Rs its a big deal.

My friend already tried using the STV 274 on 3G sim/connection.It didn't accept.
Best method is to take normal 2G excel prepaid connection and if lucky(maybe depending on circle) you might just get higher speeds when you use UMTS mode in mobile.Note:I cannot guarentee that everyone wil get the same speeds like I am getting but I'm sure it will always be better than GPRS speed.

best idea would be buy a 2G sim keep it in 3g handset for nearly two or three months and they will upgrade your sim if you are lucky enough .

i got this speed after three months of using bsnl gprs .

just buy a 2G sim card and try your luck remember keep handset on umts/wcdma mode .

and if you donot get any increment in speed just buy a 3G sim latter after all sim card are as cheap as a chocolate and as easy as to get garbage on indian road so just worth try your luck( labour under correct knowledge)

intially when i bought bsnl sim after withdrawal of airtel's unlimited plan i was going to throw the sim due to bsnl's super slow speed but latter after some 15 days i was able to get 25 KBps(over gprs ) and now this rocking speed .

and i donot think 274/230 will work there on 3G sim.

Hai guys. I'm new to this forum. I'm a BSNL post-paid subscriber in Kerala with unlimited GPRS plan. Few months back I was getting upto 150 KBps browsing speed. But after the 3G work started, I'm currently getting only about 60 KBps browsing speed during day-time & about 80 KBps speed in the night. Quite frustrating to browse on PC with this speed! Not much problem on mobile with Opera Mini. Hope things will improve after the entire 3G upgradation is over!!!

They have also increased the plan rate to Rs. 249 p.m. Its written that this is only a promotional tariff for 90 days. During promotion usually they decrease the tariff. Then how come they have increased the tariff???

I want to know whether I can purchase a 3G SIM card without taking a 3G connection. The advantage is that its quite cheap (only Rs. 59) & it has high capacity which means one can store many more phone nos.

I'll take a 3G connection when I'll upgrade my Nokia 6303 with a 3G handset. I would have purchased the Nokia 5230 if not for the 2 MP camera which I feel is a downgrade.

I am waiting eagerly for Nokia to announce their C6 handset which will be a affordable Symbian 3 touch-screen with 3G.

I guess its some technical glitch that 2G subscribers are able to log into the 3G network. BSNL may rectify it soon especially after reading these posts.

In the meantime, its worth trying it out. If only I had a 3G handset with me!!!!
