Default Tata Indicom Mobile with ZTE C335 Review

I am using TATA Indicom from last 2 months. Here is my experience:

TATA Indicom service is a great service. I hope you will have good nasty time with it. Sometimes in the middle of the call the signal drops completely and call gets disconnected, all like Black Magic . Sometimes my friends are calling me but my phone does not ring . Some times no one can make a call to me. Almost most of the times I can't make calls to BSNL Mobile, I have to call 7-10 times to make a single call.

Besides this I also have problems with their handset ZTE C335, which costs 1000/- rupees:

  • Ring-Tone: It has 32 polyphonic ring tones and No matter which one you choose, 95% of the cases It will always ring-up with only one ring-tone. The ring-tone you chose will ring only 5% of th times
  • Battery-Backup: Battery is a big problem. Not much backup. After a full charge if you talk for 1 hour, battery goes dead. Sometimes it is showing that battery is 50% but when you talk for 3-4 min, it goes down.
  • Keypad-Lock: This is very frustrating problem. Sometimes I just can't lock the keypad. The keypad-lock key just does not work.
  • Slow Processing: The phone is too slow to respond. When you cancel a running call, it takes a 4 times time to cancel the call, 4-5 times of what a normal phone takes Just press the cancel button and wait till it disconnects, that is the thing that is frustrating. I gave this to my friend as he wanted to make a call and after that he asks me Don't you have call disconnect facility in TATA Iindicom . Have you used a Virus infected Windows on your computer, well, thats exactly how this handset behaves.

Hmmn pretty bad experience there! which state are you from? Have you any other operator? Asking becoz I have pretty decent experience compared to many other gsm operators ... of course improvement can be done.

For the handset problems I never liked those chinese branded handset ever .... there battery problem is a forever thing no matter how many times you get it replaced.
Also in that price range Samsung Hero is the best cdma handset IMO.

hey man i m sharing my xperience wth tata indicom

overall netwrk is good , bt sumtimes its just sucks !! specially at nite when u r eager 2 talk wth ur gf , u can call her, bt she cant reach u .. in my case she calld me, nt i calld her..so it caused a lot of prob
their customer care says its due to maintaince

sms pack of tata 1000(now 600) @ Rs 30 is hot fav of all ppl ..bt if u send 1000 sms 200wll fail...

and battery life >> CMDA alwys keep d signal up , nt lik GSM where signals r kept in a pulse wave method.. in CDMA this continuous flow of signal causes low battery life compared 2 GSM , and in CDMA sector due to Qualcomm's monpoly ,large mobile manufracturers lik sony ericsson nvr took entry2 cdma sector till now (as i knw). so its realy hard 2 get a good cdma handset, moreovr tata's on-mobile internet service sucks- slow pathitically and high tariff rate !!

I am in Hyderabad. Both Reliance and TATA suck here. My friends have Reliance, AirTel, Idea and Vodafone. The only friends who are happy are using either AirTel or Idea. Rest weep in vain, especially who use CDMA . CDMA users in Hyderabad are always bitching and moaning about services. I have yet to find a single one happy user.

Didn't know that ZTE is a Chinese company, otherwise could have never bought that . I am buying Reliance next week. Rel-2-Rel are free STD calls for 496/- of recharge. TATA offers 29 paisa local TATA-2-TATA calls, quite cheap for me but nothing for STD calls and I make longer STD calls (hardly any local call, 1 or 2 times a month say). STD calls in TATA-2-TATA are free only in 450/- postpaid plan. I use pre-paid only.

Do you have any advice on handsets in Reliance ? Regarding your helpful advice , SAMSUNG hero is available only with TATA, so I can't help it. I can pay around 3000/- at maximum and I want a colored, polyphonic tones set with headset (as CDMA heats up much) and good battery back-up. Another Relince Forum advised LG RD3600 which is for 1800 + 300/- for connection. I do not want to use GSM primarily because of the health-concerns over the Radio-Waves used in GSM technology because I have to talk for long-hours.

Lol on one hand you are moaning about cdma operators and still jumping from one to another .... don't you think cdma tech also uses radio waves.

Also Tata Indicom have Rs450 coupon in prepaid also .... so you don't need to change. If you really liked Samsung hero then get it unlocked for 100Rs and use it with any operator (Tata, Reliance or Bsnl Tarang).

I always have doubt about LG phones ... there software have mostly bugs & flaw.
For Lg Rd3600 I am not sure .... it's not mentioned on Reliance website .... have a look ..... :: Welcome to Reliance Mobile ::

Erm... both GSM and CDMA use radiowaves but the range of frequencies used in each technology are different. GSM uses the range of frequencies that are dangerous for both humans and sparrows and other birds and animals. Not all sets of ranges are harful but many are.

In hospitals you are not allowed to take your GSM near to a neawly-born baby, unless it is switched-off. Ask any doctor, the newly born baby is too soft and delicate to stand the hamful effect of the specific range of frequencies uses in GSM technology. see: Cellular frequencies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eh.. we are going pretty OT

Aye.. I went to the TATA Center (Or whatever they call them), they said there is no such facility for STD calls from TAT-2-TATA, it exists only for locals. I have even checked the TATA Indicom's web-site but found nothing: Prepaid Plans from Tata Indicom providing a range of prepaid plans for you

Do you have any link to that 450/- plan ?

I opeened the SAMSUNG India website and all CDMAs were shown there with prices but Hero and Hero NEXT have no price tag . I heared that we can no longer get any B&W CDMA sets as they are not sold any more: Samsung CDMA Mobile Phone Handsets

actually, I am notmuch interested in color mobiles as I am much in durability and bug-free ability of the set. I liked SAMSUNG hero because peopl says it is hard-core bug free mobile, I don't mind keeping such a B&W mobile. After all the purpose of mine is only tomake cheap STD calls and nothing more

I did not know that LG phoens have bugs. If you search on the forum here, you will only find that NOKIA CDMA handsets and Classic series are buggy.

Why does the CDMA is so expansive than GSM and also at big shortage of quality phones

I have to buy it because my friend does not have any money to buy TATA. He can get a 2nd hand Reliance mobile for free from some friend of his who has got bored with Reliance

Becoz cdma is patented technology so phone manufacturers have to pay royalty fee ... also they cannot (fone manufacturers) do free R&d in this tech .... have to take permissions each time from Patent Owner (Qualcomm).

Here comes the one big disadvantage of Technology-Patents.
