FAQ for BSNL Prepaid WLL(CDMA) in TAMIL NADU Telecom circle

1.What is CDMA Prepaid service?
It is nothing but existing CDMA telecommunication service with payment made in advance for the usage.
2.When the Prepaid services will be available?
From 1-9-2008, the prepaid CDMA services is scheduled to be launched.
3.What should I do for getting a initial connection ?
The CAF (Customer Application Form) available in customer centres should be filled in and submitted with Address/Photo proof in the form of voter ID/PAN card/Driving Licence/Passport/Ration card and two numbers of Passport size Photos similar to the Postpaid connection.
4.What are the services offered in Prepaid CDMA WLL ?
Initially the Prepaid services are provided for voice and SMS, shortly the DATA services would also be introduced.
5.How is Prepaid different from Postpaid?
No monthly rental, no security deposit for STD/ISD, No monthly bill.
6.Is roaming facility available in Prepaid CDMA WLL now ?
Now Prepaid service is available on Fixed Wireless Terminals with limited mobility. Roaming will be introduced subsequently.
7.What do I get on initial payment ?
There are four Plans to choose viz General Plan , Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 3. For Plan 1 to 3 the initial free talk value is for Rs.900/- and that of General Plan is for Rs.150/-
8. What is the tariff for Prepaid CDMA services?

Note b: the free talk time of Rs 750 in plan 1,2 and 3 may be implemented on promotional basis for a period of 90 days from the date of launching of the service .After expiry of promotional period of 90 days ,free talk time and validity will be applicable as per general plan
9.How do I get the prepaid service activated?
Initial activation will be done by BSNL with the free talk value credited, subsequent recharges can be done by the customer using recharge vouchers.
10. What are the denominations of recharge vouchers and their talk values and validity periods?

11.What is ESN and where it is located?
Equipment Serial Number comes with each FWT instrument and it is available in hexadecimal format at the back of the instrument.
12.How do I activate STD/ISD on instrument?
STD/ISD is provided by default. Dynamic locking facility available.
Procedure : Password creation *123 xxxx xxxx (xxxx denotes password)
STD lock : * 124 xxxx 1
STD unlock * 124 xxxx 3
ISD lock * 124 xxxx 0
ISD unlock * 124 xxxx 3
13.Do I need to pay any deposit for STD/ISD?
No deposit need to be paid.
14.What should be done if I need Internet connection on Prepaid?
Model I FWT to be opted for Internet enabled connection with separate application form, once the data services are introduced in prepaid CDMA network .
15.Do I own the instrument once I pay for it?
Yes.
16.What is the helpline number?
The helpline no. is 1800 233 1500.
17.What happens if I loose my instrument?
Deactivation to be done by calling the helpline 1800 233 1500.
18.Whether same Indicator number will be re allotted, if I loose my instrument?
Yes, available on purchase of new FWT.
19.Can you activate a connection through an instrument owned by me ?
Yes. General Plan needs the Subscriber to arrange his own IFWT.
20.Can I migrate from Prepaid to Postpaid?
Yes. With the change of Indicator number after following the usual formalities.
21.Can I change my Prepaid number?
Yes within the Prepaid range of numbers
22.Is there any exchange scheme for instrument?
Not at present.
23.How do I get the call details for the calls made?
Yes on demand.
24.Will the balance amount roll over?
Yes, within the validity period.
25. Is there any reward system available for the usage amount?
Not at present.
26. Where do I get further details ?
Contact nearest BSNL Customer Care Centre for further details.

Pt 6 and 14 make it pretty much unattractive as everyone knows there is nothing like soon term in Bsnl dictionary.

There is advertisement in Today's TOI which says with Roaminf services not "to be launched soon".
